More About Me

The Master and The Beginner

What is the difference between the master and the beginner?
The master has failed more times than the beginner even tried.

Who are you?

You are not your age, nor the size of your clothes you wear, you are not a weight, or the color of your hair. You are note your name, or the dimples in your cheeks, you are all the books you read, and all the words you speak, you are your croaky voice, and the smiles you try to hide, you're the sweetness in your laughter, and every tear you've cried, you're the songs you sing so loudly, when you know you're all alone. You're the places that you've been to, and the one you call home. You're the things that you believe in, and the people that you love. You're the photos in your bedroom, and the future you dream of, you're made of so much beauty, but it seems that you forgot, when you decided that you were defined by all the things you're not. ~e.h

Fifth-generation and born and raised, Annie is a true blue Portlander! She loves that working in real estate allows her to constantly connect with her community and meet amazing new people. Annie recognizes that buying and selling a home is a pivotal step into your next phase of life. She will go above and beyond to ensure a smooth path to closing and to help guide you through every step of the way.

Annie graduated from NYU with dual majors and honors and spent 8 years living and performing in NYC. She knows that moving to a new place (or back to your hometown!) is a major undertaking. Relocating and moving to Portland, Beaverton, or a city nearby? She would love to help you navigate the process and answer any questions you might have about buying a home, staging and listing, the local housing market and more. Headed somewhere else? Annie has developed relationships with top real estate agents across the country and would be happy to provide you with referrals.

Annie is a proud member of Schug Residential Real Estate, among the top 1% producing real estate teams in the greater Portland metro area. Whether you want to know more about the market, are a first time homebuyer or are looking to sell and make a new house your next home, Annie is looking forward to connecting with you and helping you exceed your real estate goals!

In the Off Hours

Annie is awed on a daily basis by the beauty of our beautiful city and state. When she isn't writing or receiving offers or touring with clients she loves spending time with family and friends around the gorgeous Pacific Northwest. A cozy Gearhart beachhouse that has been in her family for generations will always anchor a bit of her heart in the Gearhart/Astoria/Cannon Beach area of the coast. Annie will jump on any chance to spend time in and around Oregon's gorgeous beaches, lakes and rivers, despite the less than warm waters.

Annie loves trying new things, especially when she's able to support local businesses. Feel free to reach out for recommendations if you're looking for restauarants to try, performances to attend, activities to test out and more.

Annie is a major history buff who loves reading non-fiction and watching as many documentaries and PBS shows as she can. Passionate about the arts, Annie is a playwright and has performed internationally as an actress and singer. So whether you need a source of Shakespeare quotes or obscure historical facts to fill out your trivia team Annie is the one to call!

As a full time real estate broker, Emily Bartolme relishes in advising her clients on buying and selling residential real estate in Portland and surrounding cities. Her unique method puts her clients in the driver’s seat, with Emily as the navigator. This team-oriented approach allows her clients to be in control of the decision-making while Emily provides valuable insights and strategic, creative negotiation tactics. She is a dedicated, passionate advocate for her clients, utilizing problem-solving skills while simultaneously balancing the nuances of critical negotiation. She genuinely enjoys meeting new people and facilitating their hopes and dreams to manifest. This makes working with her fun!

In terms of business volume, Emily prioritizes quality over quantity. She is committed to providing the highest level of service, including offering extra services that go above and beyond what is normal in our industry. This business model ensures that she will always have time to consult with her clients on their transaction or facilitate a spontaneous home tour.  Emily clearly communicates the real estate process, along with current market trends and data. She easily collaborates and manages 3rd parties including escrow and the lender to provide a smooth transaction. Managing all the details and intricacies in the process of buying or selling a home come second nature to Emily. She navigates the transaction the way she would want if she were the client.

Emily attended Portland State University, the downtown location, acquiring a bachelor’s degree from the School of Business. For several years following her graduation, she worked in marketing and advertising at agencies both large and small until she took another leap of faith. In 2014, Emily started her real estate business and joined Windermere Realty Trust under the mentorship of her colleague, now friend and teammate, Reuben Schug.

Outside of real estate, you’ll find Emily outdoors with her husband and two young children enjoying all the natural beauty the Pacific Northwest has to offer. She explores her surroundings by hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, camping, and biking. During the wet months, she’ll be skiing, snowshoeing, reading, practicing yoga, playing music, organizing her home, or playing games with her family. Emily is part of a year-round volleyball league. She is always looking for opportunities to give back to her community. She is a regular Red Cross blood donor and volunteers for various organizations as much as possible. Community is an important aspect of our lives and Emily ensures that she is a positive, contributing citizen.

Selling Your Home For Top Dollar!

In today's complex and rapidly changing real estate market, you owe it to yourself to work with a full service real estate professional. Anyone can sell a home, but selling a home for top dollar takes strategic thinking and a strong grasp of the latest marketing techniques. I’ll work with you to highlight the best qualities of your home to as many potential buyers as possible, thus yielding strong offers, and quickly. A bachelor’s degree in marketing combined with diverse experience in sales and business development allows me to bring “outside the box” thinking to the marketing of my clients’ homes. I bring a consultative approach, strategic marketing expertise, and exceptional negotiating skills to the practice of real estate. There is more to selling a house than putting a sign in the yard and an ad in the paper. An effective marketing strategy for your home is one that combines proven marketing principles with the latest technology to get results, and get them quickly!

Why Work With Me To Buy Your Next Home?

I Listen! Listening is the first, and among the most important things I do for clients. I strive to gain understanding of your desires and needs. Once everyone is on the same page, the house hunting becomes a pleasure. My knowledge of the local housing market and ability to recognize new trends gives my clients an edge in the marketplace. I’ll work with you to narrow down the many available houses to the ones that are the best possible fit for you and your family. Once we find that perfect house, my real work begins. I take every negotiation as a challenge to create the absolute best outcome for my clients within the boundaries of good ethics. I’m meticulous about details (just ask my wife) and my diligent follow-through will keep the transaction on track and help us dodge any potential pitfalls during escrow. Purchasing a home is a huge decision — to get through it you want someone who listens and understands your needs, keeps your stress to a minimum, and negotiates extremely well on your behalf.

Dedication to My Community

I grew up in Oregon, and am happy to have made Portland my home. Neighborhoods I have lived in over the years include Tualatin, Tigard, Newberg, Hillsboro, Garden Home, Lents, Sellwood, Mt. Tabor, and presently Eastmoreland. I am grateful to have such an intimate connection to so many communities in the area. I feel it truly is a service to my clients, and allows me to help them identify the neighborhood that is right for them.

I love Portland and it's important to me to give back to a community that has given me so much. I have served on philanthropic boards and volunteered for many service projects over the years. Some of my current activities include:

  • Board Member and Past-President of Tau Chapter of TKE Board of Advisors since 2000.
  • Rotarian and Past-President – Central East Portland Rotary since 1998. Paul Harris Fellow.
  • Coach and sponsor of youth soccer, futsal, and baseball.
